Weekly round up – w/e 10th November

A group went to the North Yorkshire South Durham Cross Country League race at Whitby, known as one of the best and most varied courses in the region, with the steepest hill known on any cross country course which is always slippery with mud. They found lovely weather and a course mostly dry compared to others at present. The Under 11s don’t have the hill, and their race is short and frantic. Daniel Kennedy had a great run to finish 2nd, with Daniel Campbell 3rd. The girls were in good form with Lucy Gilberton 2nd and Annabelle Coxon 4th, and Molly Skelton, Sophie Williams, Kate Setchell all in the top 12. The Under 13s had the hill, and had great runs with the girls winning the team through Lottie Langan 2nd, Amy Kennedy 3rd only one second behind, and Ellie Johnson 9th. The Under 15s had a long tough course, and good results for Isaac Henson 6th (after a school race the day before) and Amelie Taylor 9th. Our 3 representatives in the ladies (and Men 65) race were closely matched, and had an enjoyable challenge, with Kathryn Crozier, an Under 17 in her first ever race running a very well judged race to just win the battle of the generations ahead of Dave Paver and Sharon Langan. It was then left to Paddy Langan to tackle the Senior Men race with 3 times up the hill, to finish in the middle on 76th of 152.

Robbie Brown ran well in the British Cross Challenge at Milton Keynes as he came 27th in the senior race.

Ed Mezzetti was the leading runner from the club in the Dalby Forest 10k trail race as he came 24th in 39.18. Jayne Batt was the leading female runner from the club in 60.36.

16 of our members did parkrun over the weekend. The Keens repeated their podium positions at Easingwold as William came 2nd in 20.11 with Kaitlin 3rd in 22.52. Meanwhile on te Knavesmire Tim Stratton came 2nd in 16.25 with Megan Ledden 3rd in 20.41. Mike Raynes came 3rd at Castle Howard in 20.09. The club didn’t have nay runners taking part in the York junior parkrun.
